Errand restaurants and the errand fee

Updated August 2026 · 3 min read

Not every restaurant you can order from on Nana is a Nana partner.

Some are places we have no agreement with at all. They don't have our tablet, they don't receive your order, and they've never heard of us. You can still order from them: a rider goes to the restaurant, buys your food with their own money, and brings it to you. We call that an errand, and it carries a separate fee.

Telling the two apart

Every restaurant in the app carries a badge, on both the list card and the restaurant's own page.

BadgeWhat it means
VerifiedAn official Nana partner. Your order goes straight to their kitchen.
ErrandsNot a Nana partner. A rider shops there on your behalf.

Tap the Errands badge on a restaurant's page and we'll explain it there too, along with the current fee. Nothing is hidden until checkout.

What the errand fee is

The errand fee is a flat charge added once to an errand order — ₦1,000 at the time of writing. It is not a percentage, so it doesn't grow with your basket, and it doesn't change if you order from three sections of the menu.

At checkout it appears on its own line marked Errand fee, directly under your delivery fee. Partner restaurants never show this line.

Your total on an errand order is:

  • The food, at the prices listed on the menu
  • Delivery, priced on the distance to your address as usual
  • The errand fee, once

Why it exists

At a partner restaurant, the kitchen gets your order the moment you pay, and our arrangement with that restaurant is what funds the service.

An errand has none of that. The rider has to travel to the restaurant, wait in the queue like any other customer, pay out of pocket, and only then start the delivery. That's a much longer trip and money advanced on your behalf. There's no partner contributing to it, so the fee covers the shopping itself.

The upside is range. Errands are how we can offer you places that haven't signed up with a delivery service — including small kitchens that will probably never have a tablet on the counter.

What to expect when you order

Menu prices are the restaurant's, as we last recorded them. We don't control them and they can drift. If the price has moved, we honour what you paid.

Items sell out without warning. A partner restaurant can mark a dish unavailable in their app; an errand restaurant can't tell us anything. Your rider will find out at the counter and call you.

Timing is less predictable. Preparation times shown for errand restaurants are estimates rather than something the kitchen has confirmed to us.

Keep your phone reachable. Everything above is resolved by your rider calling you. An unanswered phone is the single most common reason an errand order goes wrong.

This is different from the Errands tab

Nana has two things using the word "errand", and they charge differently.

An errand restaurant — what this article covers — is a normal food order. You pay everything upfront, food included, because the menu gives us prices to charge against.

The Errands tab is for sending a rider to a market or shop with a shopping list, where nobody knows the prices in advance. There you pay the delivery and service fees upfront, and the rider calls you with the real cost of the items before you pay for them.

Refunds

If your errand order arrives wrong, is missing items, or never turns up, report it the same way as any other order — open the order and message support within 24 hours.

Being a non-partner restaurant doesn't change your position with us. We arranged the delivery and took your payment, so putting it right is ours to do.
